Technologies that
move development
forward.

Mahiti builds data systems, platforms and AI tools with nonprofits, foundations and governments.

We build the data systems, platforms and field tools that civil society uses to reach more people, more honestly, in more places, from the smallholder farms of Mandya to community health rounds in Koppal.

Founded in 2002 in Bengaluru, Mahiti has spent over two decades building technology and data systems for nonprofits, foundations, governments, and networks across India and beyond. We work at the intersection of technology and social impact, building practical tools that help organisations make better decisions and demonstrate deeper change.

Our approach

Three moves, always.

Twenty-four years in, we've found that the technology rarely fails: what fails is the fit between technology and the people, places and processes that use it. So we work in three deliberate moves.

01

Listen, in the field.

We start by spending time where the work happens (clinics, classrooms, FPO offices) to understand the workflow before we design the system.

2–8 weeks
02

Build, openly.

Open-source by default. We build for the device the worker actually has, the connection she actually gets, and the language she actually speaks.

3–9 months
03

Hand over, then stay close.

Our work isn't done at handover. We train, document and remain available, because the systems that last are the ones the partner can run themselves.
